Baby Shower!

Last night was a baby shower at my friend Lindsey's house. She and Lea hosted. It was a bunch of the girls (nearly all of them) from our AC (Adult Community is like a Sunday School) at our church! We had a seriously good time, sharing the love, blessings, and trials of parenthood :) They each wrote out pieces of advice to share with Tim and I--things about baby's right away, things about being good spouses with kids, things about how to nurse well, things about just relaxing... It was such a blessing to hear the hearts of women in my life who are parents of beautiful children share their "secrets" on what they did. Something that kept coming up over and over again was that as their mom and dad--Tim and I will always understand our own kids best. We'll know their needs and "normals" better than a doctor, friend, or even grandparent. That is both encouraging and a little bit like, Phew! We need to be such good parents!

A night of fun, food and fellowship …

29 Weeks.

How baby's growing:Your baby now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is growing bigger to make room for his developing brain. To meet his increasing nutritional demands, you'll need plenty of protein, vitamins C, folic acid, and iron. And because his bones are soaking up lots of calcium, be sure to drink your milk (or find another good source of calcium, such as cheese, yogurt, or enriched orange juice). This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in your baby's hardening skeleton each day. (from babycenter.com)
I love the feeling of baby kicking around, sometimes spasm-like, in my belly. Although, in the last week and a half, I have felt more uncomfortable movements, and pushing up into my ribs... I was surprised by how strange that feels! But, if it is starting like that now, I can only imagine how much stronger those…

28 Weeks: Eggplant or Chinese Cabbage

Baby's now the size of an eggplant! from thebump.com Baby's lungs are mature enough that, if born now, she has a pretty good chance of surviving (with medical help). Her skin is still pretty wrinkly but will smoothen as fat continues to deposit. How your baby's growing:(from babycenter.com)By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.Tim and I are loving the third trimester so far! We've got our crib and pack'n play set up in the living room... Tim set them both up right away when he got home two different days this week and they were sitting outside our door (from shipment)! AWESOME. They lo…

Have you Chai'd Kataluma?

Hi. Today I met two of my good friends at Kataluma Chai Co. in the Colorado Mills Mall :) It was just great! I met Kaitlyn in the parking lot, and we drove across the street to sneak-pick-up Kristen from Mimi's Cafe. There, she had been dining with her hubby Blake, and their surprised-for-his-birthday friend Troy (it also happens to be Troy's Ten Month wedding anniversary). Anyway, after a quick catch up with the boys at Mimi's, the three of us girls took the jaunt back across the street to Kataluma's. YUMMM! I got an "original black chai milk shake with carmel spice ice cream." WOW. Seriously rich, but totally delicious--I could eat it all in one sitting very easily :) Don't worry, pregnancy hasn't slowed down my regular ice cream intake, it is still peak on my daily diet!

So, here we are just before I left at our own little "Chai Time" like the wall is quoting :) Thanks Kristen for coming to the Denver area and going to your Hubby's co…

Ultrasound Images, short heart-beating video!

We heard only great news yesterday at our Dr. visit! PRAISE GOD! We are happy to report that our baby is "Perfectly healthy, and the kidneys look great!" What a relief! It is amazing, that even when you're trusting God to provide and care for you in His most intimate ways, you still feel a weight lifted when it has been done.

Thank you all for your prayers, and love during our weeks of waiting to see this ultrasound and hear this good news! We are reminded how HE is FAITHFUL in answering our prayers. As He says, "Lo, I am with you, always." and He is :)

For those of you making bets on baby being a boy vs. girl, we obviously didn't come across anything "identifying" in the ultrasound, because our technician knows we don't want to know the sex of our baby... yet. But, the heart rate was at 133 bpm.

I am feeling great, and even sleeping better! A pain I've been having since Saturday is slowly subsiding, so my doctor is sure it must be some ty…

28 week appointment

Tomorrow, Tim and I are going in to see Dr. Peters for my monthly check up! This includes the famously 'condensed' glucola syrup substance that I need to drink an hour before they draw blood to check glucose levels (looking for things in myself, like diabetes). another big part of the appointment, outside of bloodwork, and the standard urine, weight, blood pressure tests, we will have a chance to meet our baby though ultrasound for the fourth time!

This ultrasound is very important, as we are going to take a closer look at the development of the kidneys/cavities within, the little parts near where the kidney is attached to the ureters. at our 20 week appt, these cavities were holding more urine, and therefore were enlarged. Please pray with us for this important check tomorrow afternoon-- Tuesday at 3pm mountain time. pray for healthy development of baby, for the proper things to be seen during the ultrasound, and that the kidneys are back to normal. Pray for His presence to…

27 weeks.

Welcome to the third trimester! I cannot believe it, but we are officially in the last trimester of being pregnant. Although I am anxiously awaiting meeting our son or daughter, I don't want this pregnancy to go by too fast! I am doing my best to soak in all the little movements, the thoughts, the feelings I'm having and not move past them too quickly.

I am treasuring our week by week photo journaling, I absolutely LOVE looking at baby gear, both online and in-store, and now checking out, sorting, and placing all the great gifts we received at our First Baby Shower this weekend in Milaca! Seriously, we were showered with so many loving hugs, friendly smiles, kind words, gifts, and support. THANK YOU to all involved!

Although Tim wasn't able to fly to MN with me, he was warmly loved from afar from our many family and friends! I am looking forward to getting some pictures of the weekend up, a 27 weeks baby photo, AND more info about our monthly appointment tomorrow.

26 Weeks, Photo

From Tim :) "and Maggie, and the baby"

When I woke up on Sunday morning, I was greeted with a lovely bouquet of Roses and Lilies, wet kisses from Maggie and a sweet kiss and endearing hug from Tim. Then, I was served my request of breakfast (Egg in the Nest) before taking a leisurely shower and readying for church.

These are the flowers my husband picked out for me! The orange roses are the same as we had at our wedding for the corsages and boutonnieres. I am loved, cherished, and adored... FOR. SURE :)

THANKS Honey! **(and "maggie and the baby")

Happy Mother's Day!!!

McBebe! We love you momma!

We are so thankful for you Marie!

So glad to have you in our lives, Susan! Beautiful as ever!
Grateful for your love, Suzy!

Thank You MOMS for all you did, all you do, and all we know (depend on you to do) you'll keep on doing! We love you so very much, and are so thankful for your presence in our lives.  We look forward to you being our baby's grandmas!!!
Love,
Tim and Amy Kate

p.s. Tim got me flowers and made breakfast this morning! Beautiful Orange Lilies and Roses (same color as those in our wedding)! So thankful for him and the baby we have! It was my first official Mother's Day celebrating me in the mix. How special!

KB is 26 weeks old today!

Here are two videos I took today, trying to capture what it feels like when the baby moves (all over my belly like a creepy monster) all day everyday. I feel the baby most of the day long now, some kicks are huge, and others are just subtle movements that the little one is just readjusting, or working on their swim strokes? I LOVE feeling the baby. And, I am pretty certain Tim loved it only like the first 300 times I made him check it out! Now, I can tell he's like, Yep, there it is again. :)

I know the movies are little dorky, so you don't have to watch them. BUT I know some moms and sisters who might like them since they can't be a part of the happenings out here in Denver :)

Love, babymama

Easter with the Swedins

Celebrating Easter with the Swedins was very full weekend of a lot of fun and surprises.
Apparently, Suzy hasn't had a year off from dying eggs since the kids were born. So, we can't stop the tradition now... Yep, we all dyed eggs at Jon's place last Saturday. We had some colors, some waxy crayon-things, and some eggs. I didn't even know what I was doing, since it had been so long since I'd done such activity :) but I managed to keep up with the best of 'em.

Maggie and Cooper slept away most of their days, if they weren't out in the park chasing a ball... Cooper never got close (he still only has three working legs. the fourth is still recuperating)  but Kev and Tim made sure Maggie ran  miles and miles chasing and searching for her orange Chuck It! ball.

We ate very well, and probably too often over the weekend. For as little activity and as much lounging as we did, we had giant meals of BBQ Chicken, Pizza at Woody's in Golden, big Breakfasts of eggs, …

25 Weeks complete... 15 Weeks to go.

Yikes! I can't believe there are only around 15 weeks left of this baby living and growing inside my belly! This pregnancy has just been filled with joy, blessings, and gladness for me. I have enjoyed the many kicks, turns, and fluttery dances our little babe is doing inside :) SO much!

info from babycenter.com:
How your baby's growingHead to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. Her weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but she's beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she'll start to look more and more like a newborn. She's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.
