Twin Lakes

This weekend, we set off for Twin Lakes, Colorado. A quaint mountain town in between Leadville and Buena Vista on the road to Aspen. It was absolutely gorgeous weather. We were baking all day, everyday, to warm up before our freezing cold nights. It was perfect. We set out the hammock, Jon drove the camper, and Jordan and Joy were SO into playing "Risk" with us, that our group of five (plus Maggie) made for the perfect crowd. We loaded up on all kinds of goodies at the grocery story Thursday night... things like: Twizzlers, pop, chips, S'mores, Coleman fuel, E.L. Fudge cookies, fruit snacks, Eggo waffles, Jiffypop, breakfast sausage... it couldn't have gotten much better than this. I'm tellin' you, we had it ALL. and it was all junk :) Jon brought the stuff for brats, hamburgers, and BBQ chicken on the grill.

We certainly needed the little bit of exercise we had when Joy led us on her (and Jordy's) first Geocaching experience! She trekked us up the mountain a ways to a great view where we found one of two Geocaches. Maggie almost pulled Jon into the lake--but we didn't want any repeats of our Echo Lake experience; You know, it is the one where Tim was pulled into the ice-water, backwards. I panicked and everyone else laughed.

Don't worry, though! The boys each had their fair share of being frozen in glacial waters... By their own choice, mind you. On Saturday, it was so sunny and warm that we went down to the "beach" to sun. The girls just soaked in the rays, but the boys (and Maggie) took the plunge. They stayed in just long enough to get wet, and didn't heed to Maggie's begging for more play time with her in the water.
It was COLD. Joy & I just sat and watched... almost more enjoyable.

We are so blessed to be a part of this lovely creation. I am constantly in AWE of our Lord's great workings in our lives. Now that I am not working at Hope anymore, I am still on the job hunt... seeking a FT nanny position. This makes me excited for things to come, but it also makes Tim and I very anxious. Pray with us as we seek HIS will for us in this world. Since our interest is growing with the idea of Native people ministry, we are anticipating a fun adventure to Minnesota the beginning of August. We will get to meet and see the school up North on the Reservation in Red Lake, and learn more about their needs. Also, we get to see our families, and friends!

I have several comments
#1) I went camping at twin lakes last year. It is so beautiful! Makes me miss Colorado.
#2) Is that the hammock I gave you for your wedding?
#3) I like the family photo with you and Tim and Maggie, but I'm wondering...did you adopt a bird into your family as well?

The "swimming" pictures are hilarious! Especially the look on Jordan's face as he's making his exit.
Somehow I'm imagining you guys yelling at the pitch of girls in the exit water photos! Chilly?!

Jess,
1) I LOVE it there... we drove through BV on our way to and from. We'll be camping again this weekend at Chalk Creek Campground with friends from our Sunday School. Miss you!
2) YES. We love the hammock and use it all the time. THANK YOU!
3) I think I regret to tell you (with some slight confusion) that we don't have a bird?
