I love this moment | ENJOYING the PRESENT

A precious moment...
I love this picture of Tim & Cody. More than that, I love this moment. They're just sitting in the same old (old) LaZboy that Tim remembers sitting in on Mike's lap. They're talking to each other, digging for reciepts and whatever else they can find in Tim's wallet. They just dink around like this for so long. Cody grunts some form of "talking" to his dad, and Tim just pipes back a funny-and-endearing mockery of the same sound. It is the sweetest. I stood and watched them for who knows how long. Just thanking God that these guys are in my life.

I've spent a lot of time waiting and wondering these past few months. We're really being forced to be patient with a few things in our life. That's okay, God is working in our lives at the same time. We're being challenged to walk more closely with Him and not seek to fulfill our needs without Him. We CAN'T. Tim and I are learning to Trust & Obey (for there's no other way to be happy in Jesus, than to trust and obey). Anyway, what I'm getting at is that I have made a commitment to BE PRESENT. Be more HERE. Be more just IN the MOMENT. I spend enough time worrying about what's going to happen. As one of my favorite authors writes,  I can't live in the land of if-only. What our life will look like if... What I should have done before. What already happened should have gone like...

It's too much to do, and I am distracting my heart from the fact that I have a Wonderful and Blessed LIFE here & NOW. I need to get with it! I need to enjoy it now.

Happy Birthday, baby boy! | Titus is one

Last year, just after midnight on the morning of Mother's day, this little tyke was born to us! He was a mere 7 pound, 10 ounce baby with fuzzy hair, puffy eyes, and just a perfectly strong boy. He has elfin charm paired with tender kisses. The strawberry blonde fuzz continues to grow up and out, a lighter shade today. We most often find him wanting (whining) to be held, or seeking mischief. He already wants to do what C, J, and A are into... and it causes him many tumbles and tears when he can't keep up or isn't allowed to participate.

We are celebrating this mini man today, on his first birthday! Happy Birthday Titus Andrew!

Homeschool Plans 2017-2018, First Grade and Pre-K Boys | Homeschooling with Truth, Beauty, Goodness

I would like to share with you our plans for our homeschool this year. Codeman is in First grade, while Jesse is an official Pre-K dude. Anna is a wannabee brother and underfoot helper and Titus. He's three months old. Whooofta. I'd just like to repeat that again. Whooooooooofta.

I have read many books, blogs, and journals on the topic of education. Home education, and to be even more specific, sources regarding Classical Education and Charlotte Mason. I truly enjoy these topics and the sources. I am intrigued, and so I continue reading and have now found myself following and chatting with several homeschool moms online in addition to my local and Colorado friends who homeschool. Tim and I were both homeschooled, although my window of homeschooling was only 4 years, I glean much from my mom and Tim's mom. As some podcasts I've listened to refer to us, we are second-generation homeschoolers :) Haha! Well, it helps give me perspective on quality literature and publisher…

Happy New Year 2018! | Family Life, Health, and Commitments.

New Year, New Energy
The sun stays up a few moments more every day now. The cold, hard and dark of late Autumn and into winter is always a challenge for me. It's like they're calling out to me: "you're tired," "you're weary" and they howl threats to take away my joy. As I see the days growing longer again, I get a rejuvenation as I get to see the turn of the calendar, too. The howls seem farther behind now. They're not creeping around my doors anymore. Winter is in a frosty, forward thrust here in Minnesota, and as I watch the sun rise up over the trees, witness the special still and clear mornings of a hoar frost, or see a bright halo around the sun... these each show me it is still cold. But, my spirits are brighter.

Ordering my priorities. Saying No, gives me more Yes time.   When we finished our ministry serving as Missionaries with Oak Hills Center for Indian Ministries after August, our commitments were able to level out to a seasonable p…
