Me: so, what are you doing?
Tim: making a guilley (sp)  suit!

CIM & Mokahum | Ministering with Natives

We've been in MN for four months, and we're really feeling like this is home.

We have been attending a small Alliance church in Cass Lake, and I'd guess there are about 30 people there on a busy Sunday. We know pretty much everyone there, and that has been an encouragement and source of light and strength for us. We appreciate the fellowship with believers! God is giving us open doors for relationships with Natives and non-Natives alike.

Mokahum Ministry Center has been our biggest connection and involvement so far.

Teacher Tim
Because the students' schedules are on a block-type module schedule, each group is in the same class for a week or two together, then they take their next class together the following week, etc. One teacher all day for five days and the class is finished. Tim is leading the students this week in their Work Module, so he has First, Second, and Third Year Students together for one big Class. They are working on finishing the Pa…

A video of Cody laughing at Ben, to make you smile.

One of the joys of motherhood: hearing my child laugh.
Like, really laugh.
It is the best. I thought I'd share that magical sound with you :)

When Mike & Sarah were here this weekend, we had a fabulous time just hanging out and forcing the kids to be best friends. Ben was into the toys, Cody was into Hannah, and Hannah just sat around and smiled the whole time. It was great.

This is a video of them laughing. Well, of Cody laughing. You'll want to run this sound on repeat all day, and it will make you smile.

If you can watch this without smiling and just wanting to squeeze my little baby in the hug of all hugs, then I'm not sure what you're thinking. This video contains TWO INCREDIBLY WONDERFUL CHILDREN.
But, I have the liberty of boasting about my own.

Cody Alton is the cutest kid ever.
You've never seen such a great giggler.

Well, maybe you have your own kids in your life, and that's fine. That's normal to love them. :) I'm just so tha…

Beautiful Fall Day

Today was sunny, clear, in the 60s and just plain beautiful. Thank You God! I feel refreshed after playing outside with my boy a few different times today.

Cody and I ran around.
We played ball.
I pushed him on the trike.
He threw the ball for Maggie.
We picked up sticks.
He tried to run away.
Maggie knocked him over a few times.
He took a face plant down the hill.
He played in the sand.
He ate the sand.
He threw the sand.
He crawled in the sand.
Cody started loving to swing again after a month break from liking it at all.
We both walked up the road.
Maggie didn't listen well.
We raked leaves.
We bagged leaves.
We jumped in the leaves.
It was so wonderful.
Tim came home and we had McMuffins for supper.
Then Cody had sand in his diaper when I put him in the bath tonight.
Tim and I both read with Cody, cuddled him, and held him while he drank his milk before bed.
We had a great day.

Shout out to my sister!

Hi Weesha.  I took this picture when we were in Duluth. Thought you'd like it :) I figured you'd wish you were here, and would then dream of magical coffee drinks wrapped in adorable cozies. Then you'd look at all the other coffee shops near you, and be like, "it's just not the same. It's soooo good here, just not the same." Caribou is enchanted. It's one-of-a-kind.
All my sisterly love from Caribou-land, Mimi

4th Anniversary Getaway to the North Shore

4 years ago, Tim and I got hitched were married at the Grand Superior Lodge in Two Harbors, MN. We were already enamored with the beauty of Lake Superior's North Shore, but now it holds a more special meaning for our family. Our relationship, formed and founded in Christ, was united in celebration with our family and dear friends along the Lakefront on Sept 21, 2008. We have since then, not been back to Two Harbors.

Last weekend!!!! Tim, Cody and I packed up the van, put Maggie in the back, and headed East. We hadn't been East on Hwy 2 before, so that was a fun part of the trip, seeing something new. We enjoyed the enormous amount of color painting the scenes before us as Tim drove under the early afternoon sun. We were nearing Floodwood, when I decided to call mom and ask her where Grandma Vi's cemetery is. She gave us easy directions, and we found it right along the Hwy, a great spot to stop, take a break, and walk around our family's graves.

It was a beaut…
